More information : [NZ 55220166, NZ 55210162] Tumuli [OE] (1) The published survey (OS 25" 1913) is correct. The northern mound is a mutilated bowl barrow 10.0m in diameter and 0.9m high, constructed of earth and stone. There is no evidence of a ditch, but the remains of a kerb are apparent composed of large stones inset around the base. The other is a shapeless mound of earth 8.0m in diameter and 0.6m high which does not compare with the previously described barrow, or with those in the adjacent group (NZ 50 SE 19). No stone is visible in the mound itself, and there is no trace of any kerb, a feature in the other cases. Minor surface quarrying occurs in the vicinity, but the upcast from this probably does not fully account for the amount of material in the mound. (2)
