Summary : A human skeleton, the head toward the NE, in a grave lined with Roman hypocaust tiles and covered by two stone slabs was found in 1862 while draining Mill field at Parish Crake Farm, Little Busby, about 80 yds. from the River Leven. Elgee is of the opinion that it was not a grave but a Roman hypocaust in which some "unfortunate person had suffocated". Possibly the site of a villa. |
