More information : NZ 41344151 Round Hill (NAT). (1) Barrow, originally round, now oval by an addition of soil to its west end measuring 64ft west to east, 46 ft north to south and 6-1/2 ft high at the east end. Beneath this was another rough cist with two cover-stones. No bones were found in it but there may have been an unburnt burial which completely decayed. Slightly south of the centre of the mound and a few inches below the top ws a disturbed box-shaped cist with nothing inside. Finds included a flint scraper, many rough flint chippings and flakes and one fragment of pottery. (2) Tumulus, 15m N-S, 20m E-W and 2m high. No trace of ditch but a few stones visible. Present location of finds not known. (3) Destroyed in May 1966 to facilitate access to an industrial site. No finds were recorded. (4) No trace; site overlaid by modern road and industrial estate.
