Summary : The church has an Anglo-Saxon nave, 12th century north arcade, chancel arch and tower; 13th century south aisle, 15th century north aisle and piers and responds of north arcade and chancel arch; south arcade and porch of c1600; chancel of 1806. Restored in late 19th century, 1927 to 1934 and 1977 to 1980. The roofs renewed 1930. Remains of Anglo-Saxon crosses and a sundial are built into the church. Squared random limestone rubble,stainless steel knave roof, slate on chancel and porch roofs. |

St Mary Magdalene's is a transitional Norman Church incorporating the remains of an Anglo-Saxon nave. Plan. Repairs in 1889-91 revealed a number of pre-Conquest carved stones; these are preserved in the church. (2-3)

Fragments of Anglo-Saxon crosses and a sundial are built into the nave. There ar 10 fragments of cross-shafts and heads of mid-9th-11th century date, two baluster fragments of early 8th century date, and four fragments of baluster of the first half of the 9th century (5)
