More information : NZ 47532990. A series of banks varying from 0.6m to 1m in height divide the pasture land to the west and south-west of Brierton into fairly large plots. At NZ 47612997 is a large earthen platform 1.0m high, and at NZ 47403003 is a large, rectangular depression, probably a dried-up fishpond. A bivallate trackway runs from NZ 47462987 to NZ 47542979 and is continued in the field to the north-west as a single bank. The earthworks are not typical of a deserted Medieval village, and it seems possible they represent a homestead site. None of the farm buildings show any sign of antiquity. (1)
Air photographs show all the features listed. (2)
