Summary : The alleged site of a Roman turret was derived by measurement from other monuments and located at East Walker Farm, now demolished; no visible remains.
More information : "The new Fossway... converges with the line of the Wall and passes obliquely on to it, near the presumed site of Turret 1B". (area NZ 284 653). (1-2) The deduced site of Turret 1a was marked on F G Simpson's private 25" plan within the farmyard of East Walker Farm, now demolished. The position is now at about the corner of West Farm Road and No 220 Fossway (NZ 2844 6535), where the Fossway gradually passes onto the line of the Wall. (3) The area is completely built-up. (See NZ 26 NE 3 for alternative sites of Turret 1A and NZ 26 NE 5 for Turret 1B). (4) Site of Walker East Farm verified at NZ 2844 6535 but now demolished. (5-5a)
