More information : NZ 29575223 Lambton Hall (NR) (remains of) (NAT). (1) Lambton Hall was demolished prior to 1787 and according to Boyle the remains were divided into two cottages "a few years ago". Parts of the walls and one each of the cross-shaped or quatrefoiled openings on the front are ancient. (2-3) The two cottages mentioned in authority 3 are called Brewery Cottages and may represent the remains of the brewery of Lambton Hall. The hall itself is first mentioned in a 1582 will (a) and shown in 1787 as a large H-shaped building immediately south of the present cottages (b). Remains of walls, approximating to the position of the hall, were unearthed in 1946 at NZ 29565229. (c) (4) The architectural remains in the cottages are as described by authority 3. No trace of walling mentioned in authority 4.c. was seen. (5) Still inhabited and in good condition. See Ground photograph from the S. Published Survey (1:1250) Revised. (6)
