ELVET BRIDGE

DESCRIPTION + /

Early 13th century bridge incorporating work from the late 12th century bridge. Repaired after floods in 1771 and widened in 1805. The south-east arch supported the medieval chapel of St. Andrews, which may be incorporated in numbers 96 and 97 Elvet Bridge, which are 17th and early 18th century houses converted to a shop. St. James's Chapel no longer exists. Scheduled and listed.
