More information : (SU 73793387) Grange Farm (T.I.). (1) Grange Farm stands on the original site of Selborne Grange. (2) Selborne Priory (SU 73 SE 7) possessed a grange in Selborne village. I have conversed with people who remembered the original grange, but it has long given place to the present mansion. (3) The fish-stews of the grange are in the garden of my house `Coneycroft'. (4) In June 1957, Mr. Walter Williams, tenant of Grange Farm, discovered stone foundations between the farmhouse and Gracious St. Excavations by the Rev. G.E.C. Knapp revealed footings (large mortared stones) of a building, approx. 31 ft. by 21 ft., with associated Md. sherds and oyster shells; possibly the Grange. (5-7) Walter Williams has now left the district, but his sister, Mrs. Woolhead of Dorric, Gracious St., indicated the exact site of the building at SU 73793381, under the lawn of Grange Farm. Plans and photos. are retained by Rev. Knapp. The two fish stews, in the garden of Coneycroft, are in good condition. The upper is water-filled and the lower is made into a sunken garden.
