More information : (SU 71561707) Tumulus (OE) (1) Clanfield earthen ring. ? Bowl barrow, tree ring. Scheduled. (2) A circular area defined by a broad shallow ditch not more than 18 inches deep. No break for an entrance, interior same level as exterior. No bank and no central mound. Not a tumulus and very doubtful if it is ancient. (3) Circular ringwork of platform type. (4) No traces of this feature remain. It shows clearly on a Crawford Collection AP of July 1932 with its western perimeter clipped by the road. Some 50.0m to the S at approx SU 71551700(A) this AP shows an apparent saucer barrow but this also has been destroyed. Pub 1:2500 revised. (5)
