Mention of `Newtonbridge' is made in accounts of the Clerk of Works
for the Palace of Auckland 1387-88. (2)

Newton Cap Bridge said to be late 14th century is 13 feet wide and
consists of two arches (the north one segmental and the south one
segmental pointed) Grade 1. (3)
