Summary : A Bronze Age bowl barrow extant as a low earthwork..
More information : Round barrow, Moulsford. A low mound, hollow in centre. One sherd L.B.A. or E.I.A. gritted ware was found in a burrow in the mound. Sited at SU 5810 8279 from A.P. (1-2) [SU 5791 8278] A low bowl barrow on Moulsford down to the east of Lingley Knob, visited by J. Wymer in 1961. (3-4) There is only one barrow on Moulsford Down. This is a ditchless bowl at SU 5797 8276 which is 16.0 m. in diameter and approximately 0.5 m. high. It is under pasture but has been ploughed down. Surveyed at 1/2500. (5) The feature described by the authorities above was seen as an earthwork and mapped from good quality aerial photographs as part of the Thames Valley NMP. It appeared as a denuded mound c 18m across. (MORPH No. TG.40.8.1) This description is based on data from the RCHME MORPH2 database. (7)
