Summary : Medieval motte comprising conical mound situated on an eastern slope below the crest of a hill overlooks Hampstead Norris and its approaches. The motte has a diameter of 25 metres and is up to 4.2 metres high. It is surrounded by a ditch 5 metres wide and up to 1.7 metres deep. The summit is hollowed to a depth of 0.6 metres, possibly indicating the presence of a timber tower or palisade. The earthwork has been scheduled.

A bowl barrow 25 paces in diameter and 10 feet high, 300 yards south of St. Mary's Church [SU 57 NW 19] in Park Wood, Hampstead Norris.
This mound may however be Norman (3). (2,3)

This conical mound is probably a small motte. It is on an eastern slope below the crest of the hill and overlooksHampstead Norris and its approaches.
