Summary : House constructed between 1749-51 by William Jones for Lord Rodney on the site of an earlier manor house.

"On the east side of the churchyard is the site of the manor of
Old Alresford, whereon stands a mansion house built by Sir
George Brydges Rodney, Bart, about the year 1752, on the same
spot where the ancient manor house stood ....". (2)

Old Alresford House is a large red brick mansion. Admiral Lord
Rodney (1719-92) considerably enlarged and improved the
original house. (3)
