MONUMENT NO. 235570

DESCRIPTION + /

A field survey carried out by RCHME field staff recorded an L-shaped villa with associated buildings. A series of potential garden terraces were associated with this complex and may be contemporary. Partial remains of a 'Celtic' field system within the area of Micheldever Wood appear to belong to a cohesive field system composed of individual field blocks 45m x 45m in area. A hoard of more than 1400 AE coins of Gratian, Theodosius and Arcadius (AD 375-408) were found in 1844 by a gamekeeper in Micheldever Wood.
