More information : [SU 4529 7626] (1) Many large sarsen stones are to be found at Hill Green, Leckhampstead and in the hedges by the roadside in the immediate vicinity. They are all placed in rows, at nearly equal distances, in one place twelve in a row, and in other places five or six. No information can be obtained as to how they got there (2). The sarsens are arranged in the form of an avenue leading to two circles, the avenue is of modern construction, being composed of stones taken from the circles, which lie close to one another east and west (3). The stones have been moved from their position but still lie in the vicinity (4). (1-4) Sarsens (up to 4' x 2' x 18") are distributed over a wide area. Many have been cleared from the fields and deposited in hedgerows etc. Nowhere can any circles or alignments be traced. (5)
