More information : [SU 47975690 to SU 46525513] An earthwork of the boundary ditch type [See SU 24 SE 13] begins at the bottom of a small valley, runs along the western edge of Great Litchfield Down and onto Ladle Hill where it curves round the nose of the hill to die out on the north east it is a bank and ditch of slight profile (average measurements - CD vert. c.2 feet overall horizontal 20 feet) in part it was used at a setting out ditch for the hill fort which it herefore pre-dates. (1) [SU 480556950] to SU 48125621] East of the hill fort a boundary ditch of slighter profile runs 1200 yards towards HARE WARREN DOWN where it dies out. Its northern end is on the edge of the very sleep slope of the down. Visible on A.P.'s from SU 46525512 to SU 47975690, SU 48035693 to SU 48125620 and with a short stretch from SU 48085655 to SU 47885646. (2) Description of Piggott still correct. The work has been destroyed by ploughing from SU 48025680 southwards to SU 48125620 and SU 47885646 but survives elsewhere as a slight ditch with bank on west side, c 8 metres in overall width. Surveyed at 1/2500. (3)
