Summary : Mound of uncertain date and function in Axwell Park, now quarried away. It was 9.3 to 8.7 metres in diameter with a high of 0.8 metres.
More information : At NZ 1919 6188 is a fern covered mound, 9.3m in diameter east to west and 8.7m north to south with a height at centre of 0.8 metres. Enquiries made at Axwell Park Hall failed to reveal any information concerning the mound. (1) The area in which the mound was recorded has been greatly quarried over the past 20 years. No trace of the mound was seen when the site was visited; possibly removed or covered by dense undergrowth. (2) NZ 1919 6188, Near Axwell Park. Additional references.
