More information : Field system, centred SU 325-565, east of Fosbury Camp (SU 35 NW) extending to Conholt Hill. Area more than 180 acres. Query whether planned in relation to Fosbury Camp. (1) Clear markings from Fosbury Camp to woods on E, but nothing visisble towards S at Conhold Bottom (SU 327 558). (2-3) Centred at SU 324 563 A celtic field system 50 hectacres in extent. Although a large part of the area is arable the system is clearly visible. Extent delineated on field 6". (4) Centred at SU 324563, a number of lynchets, up to 1.0m in height, mark the lower limits of Celtic fields, in an otherwise almost ploughed-out field system upon the south-east facing pasture slopes below the hill fort. Lower down, in arable land, soil shadow markings can be observed from the hilltop to the south, extending the field system to the valley bottom. Better preserved lynchets remain under downland turf, below the hillfort on the south side at SU 319562, where again they average 1.0m in height. (5)
