More information : NZ 1304 6708. Turret 12a (R) (site of) (NAT) (1)
Turret 12a was excavated in 1930, but not completely. The walls were reduced to ground level beyond the edge of the roadway. It is nearly uniform in plan to Turret 12b. The rectangular platform occupying the S side of the interior, as in Turret 12b and Turret 13a, was too badly robbed in Turret 12a for any trace to survive. (2)
This was located, in 1928, on the south edge of the road about 548 yards from Milecastle 12, and confirmed by excavation in October 1930. (3-4)
There are no surface remains, the site is mainly covered by a modern road with level grass verges. (5)
There are no visible remains of the turret. (6)
Scheduled (7)
Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (8)
