Summary : A Roman villa has been excavated at Fullerton, Hampshire (excavations not yet published). It consisted of a simple winged corridor house with a mill stream and a mill, known only from its debris, directly in front; other buildings seem unlikely. This is a specialised site; presumably the mill served the whole region, which would explain the lack of granaries and normal farm buildings. The house is virtually of one period, with little modification, equipped with a small bath-suite and expensive mosaics. |
