Summary : A Roman building stone 8 by 5 by 5 inches, and inscribed ATISI, was found in 1953 in the southern face of the northern mound at the vallum at a point 390 yards west of turret 7b, on the west side of an approach road to a new building estate west of, and parallel to Copperas Lane, Denton. Whereabouts unknown.
More information : NZ 1949 6556. A building stone 8 by 5 by 5 inches, and inscribed ATISI, was found in 1953 in the southern face of the northern mound at the vallum at a point 390 yards west of turret 7b, on the west side of an approach road to a new building estate west of, and parallel to Copperas Lane, Denton. Whereabouts unknown. (1) According to these directions the site would appear to be nearer NZ 1947 6554. (2) NY 1947 6554. Approximate location of centurial stone dislodged from the south scarp of the north Vallum mound in 1953 during road works. Now lost. (3)
