More information : A fine Roman centurial stone, 13" by 9" was found about 200 yards west of the Engine P.H. Wallbottle on the West Turnpike. It is inscribed >IVLI PRO/CVLI = "the century of Julius Proculus". Donated to Museum of the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle by Newburn District Council. (1)
The find spot, as described above, is at NZ 1668 6669. The stone is in the possession of the Society of Antiquaries in Newcastle. (2)
