MONUMENT NO. 224730

DESCRIPTION + /

Ditched bowl barrow in Tottenham Park, recorded by Grinsell as Savernake 1. Field investigations in 1973 found it to have an overall diameter of 43 metres, and a height of 1.4 metres. The ditch survived only on the north side, where it was 0.3 metres deep. The barrow was mapped and interpreted from a combination of lidar derived imagery and aerial photographs as part of the Savernake Forest NMP project. The lidar imagery revealed some evidence for the ditch surviving all the way around the barrow.
