More information : A possible long barrow about 250 yds south west of Chisbury Lane Farm in a wood immediately south of a large gravel pit (probably the feature shown, but not described on OS 6" at SU 26176592). It is 90ft long, orientated N/S with the north end slightly higher, and with a slight depression in the middle. There are no signs of side-ditches but this may be due to heavy silting. (1) (SU 26176593) A mound 28.0m long, up to 17.5m wide and 1.3m high. Possibly a long barrow although there is no trace of side ditches and the orientation (actually NW/SE) is unusual. A track or ride crosses the mound at the slight depression noted by Crawford. Not mentioned in the VCH Wiltshire (long barrows section) it may be the "missing" third barrow which is shown in 'Ancient Wiltshire' by Colt Hoare (SU 26 NE 11). Resurveyed at 1:2500. (2)
