Summary : A Bronze Age bowl barrow, listed by Grinsell as Collingbourne Kingston 4, and extant as a ditched mound 2.2 metres high and 35 metres in diameter. Excavations by Colt Hoare in circa 1805 revealed a primary deposit of a small flat bronze axe with antler haft, a perforated bone plate, a sandstone whetstone with grooves on three faces, a plain whetstone, a perforated bone pin, and two antler pointed implements. No human remains were found. |

(1) One of two ditched bowl barrows, included by Grinsell in the Snail Down Group (SU 25 SW 10), but situated slightly south west of the main group; both excavated by R Colt Hoare. (A) Collingbourne Kingston 4, dimensions 28 paces in diameter x 7 ft high. Excavation revealed a primary deposit of a small flat bronze axe in a horn handle, perforated bone plate, sandstone whetstone grooved on three faces, plain whetstone, bone, perforated bone pin, two pointed antler implements, but no interment found. (2) 'A' Collingbourne Kingston 4; 35 m overall diameter, mound 2.2mm high, ditch 0.3 m deep. Published 1:2500 survey revised. (3)
