More information : (Centred SU 113721) A large pottery urn, a 1st century T-headed bronze brooch and a bronze ring possibly from Roman ring-armour were found in 1898 at Hackpen Hill on Monkton Down, on the SW slope just below barrows 7, 8, and 9 (SU 17 SW 13) and exactly E of the village. (1-2) Grinsell lists a T-shaped bronze brooch, a bronze ring, and a vessel of hard grey pottery from Monkton Down. (3)
