Summary : Probable Bronze Age bowl barrow, listed by Grinsell as Alton 12, located c300 yards west of New Town. It survives as a much mutilated amorphous mound 15 metres in diameter and 0.5 metres high.
More information : (SU 11486409) Tumulus (NR) (1) Bowl barrow, Alton 12, 26 paces in diameter, 300 yds west of New Town. (2) SU 11486410: A much mutilated amorphous mound approximately 15.0m in diameter and 0.5m high. Resurveyed at 1:2500. (3) The possible Bronze Age barrow described by the previous authorities is situated in an area of disturbed ground and was not discernible from other ground swellings visible on the available aerial photographs. (4)
