More information : (NZ 11601429) There are six fragments of Anglo Saxon sculptured stones in the Rectory at Wycliffe. They consist of two fragments of cross shaft, a bear hogback, a portion of hogback, what may be a jamb and another fragment. The decoration includes plait, ring plait, pellets, cable ridge, leaf scrolls etc. (1)
The hogback is dated to the late 10th century and the portion of cross-shaft with leaf scroll design to the late 9th cent. (2)
The fragments of the cross shaft, hogback and other stones are now situated in Wycliffe church, at NZ 11691433. See photographs. (3)
