Later exterior work dated to the 18th and 19th Century. Grade 1. (2-4) Generally outstanding despite C18th and C19th alterations and additions. (5)
House constructed in 1591 by Thomas Gorges. 18th century remodelling included a hexagonal scheme designed by James Wyatt in 1796, and partly executed by D.A Alexander in 1802-17. Additions including a restoration by A. Salvin were carried out during the 1870s. Grade I. (6)
A lead statue of "Fame", 1767, slightly less than lifesize under a stone cupola, 1759, at the southern end of panterre is listed Grade II*. (6) |
