St Martins Priory, Benedictine, founded circa 1100-1137 and dissolved 1539. The original grant, circa 1100 was for 9-10 monks. The priory was a dependant of St Mary's Abbey York. (2)

NZ 17760074 The remains of the Priory, include part of a building with a Norman doorway, a tower and miscellaneous fragments of walling. Photographed. 1:2500 survey to be amended by the field surveyor. (3)

I St. Martin's Priory Ruins

Medieval coursed rubble embattled tower, storeys with flush ashlar quoins. Small S pointed arched window and S lean-to with slit window. W front pointed archway, stone mullion and transom window above. (4)
