Monument Number 213544

Hob Uid: 213544
Location :
Dorset
Wimborne St. Giles
Grid Ref : SU0202017360
Summary : A mound on Oakley Down, close to the general scatter of round barrows (SU 01 NW 19). It is listed by Grinsell as Wimborne St Giles 29, although he notes that it is a long mound rather than a round one, and considers it doubtful as a barrow. RCHME described it as an irregular elongated mound measuring 90 feet by 38 feet (though formerly larger) and 4 feet high, and again probably not a barrow.
More information : SU 02031738 A long mound near Ackling Dyke, 40 paces
long by 15 paces wide and 3 1/2 feet in height, is a doubtful barrow. (1)

The irregular elongated mound at SU 02031737 is probably not a
barrow. (2)
