More information : (ST 961 448) Castle Barrow (GT) (1) Castle Barrow, a bowl barrow, excavated by the Rev. F G Waller some time prior to 1937, when it appears to have been a mound, 33 feet in diameter and less than 3 feet high, surrounded by a ditch 2 1/2 feet deep. The Walker MSS in Devizes Museum indicate that he found a primary cremation burial of a child in a badly crushed BA cinerary Urn. Some of the sherds are in the Museum. (2-3) Castle Barrow, at ST 96124480, is a bowl barrow 0.7 metres high. There is a trace of a ditch only. Surveyed at 1:2500 (4)
