More information : (ST 96564549) Tumulus (GT). (1) A bowl barrow, 17 paces in diameter and 2 1/2 ft high, measured from an air photograph (2). It is described by Hoare as a low circular barrow which produced a primary cremation in a 'neat circular cist'. A 'brass buckle' was found near it and near the top was the skeleton of a horse (3). M E Cunnington noted two small low barrows southwest of this barrow in 1913 (2). (2-3) This is a bowl barrow with a narrow ditch and a bank. It is mutilated in the NE but generally in good condition. There is no trace of the Cunnington barrows. Published 1:2500 survey revised. (4)
