Summary : A fragment of Roman Altar was found in the churchyard of St Andrew's Church. It measured 0.5 by 0.4 by 0.2 m. Its exact findspot can no longer be ascertained.
More information : (NZ 0484 6149) In the churchyard was found a portion of a Roman altar. It is now in the chancel of St Andrews Church. (1)

In the position, as described is a fragment of stone 0.5 x 0.4 x 0.2m
thick with a band of "castellated" ornament incised on all four sides
(see also NZ 06 SW 15). (2)

The stone, correctly described above, is not identifiable as part of
an altar. Its exact find-spot could not be ascertained. (3)
