More information : (NZ 0488 6144) CROSS (G.T) (Site of) (NZ 0489 6151) Cross (TI) (1) On a spot near the entrance gates and on the S side of the drive of Bywell Hall, the ancient village cross stood until 1852, when it was transferred to its present position to the east of the road leading to St Peter's Church. (2) A 13th century cross, surmounted by a ball of stone, probably dating from about 1700. (3) Stone ball surmounting a stone shaft with chamfered corners, which is socketed into a base stone set upon three steps. Overall height 2.8m base at ground level 3m square, shaft decorated on corners. No inscription visible. (4) Condition unchanged. (5)
