Summary : The site of Roman turret 17B, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. There are no visible remains, it is located under the modern road.
More information : (NZ 0530 6830) TURRET 17B (GSC) (Site of) (1) Located in normal position, 151 ft west of fence (3) on June 11th 1931, and excavated. The door was in the SW corner, and the ladder-platform in the SE. (2-3) No visible remains. Site covered by modern road. (4) The turret was excavated in 1931 (5a) as described by Bruce in authority 2. There is no surface trace of the turret; the site excavated at NZ 0531 6830, is covered by the modern road. (5) Scheduled (6) Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (7)
