A Roman villa in Cromhall parish south-east of Priest Wood, was excavated to destruction by Lord Ducie in 1855 for plan see A0/61/268/6-7. A number of small finds are in the museum at Tortworth Court. A tesellated pavement, noted by Rudder, (2) is probably from the room marked 'TP' on the plan. (2-3)
The site of the villa is in a pasture field and is marked by a level platform, which is raised above ground level on the north and west sides. There are no intelligible surface remains of the building. (5)

The partial outline of a Roman villa is visible as cropmarks on historic aerial photographs and was mapped as part of the Severn Vale NMP project. Located in a field about 335 metres NNW of Tapwell Bridge and centred at ST 68581 89770, remains of some of the Roman villa's wall are barely visible as cropmarks on a few specialist oblique aerial photographs taken in 1970 and were not visible in any other aerial photographs assessed as part of the Severn Vale NMP project. Straight linear features were recorded as cropmarks on Historic England oblique reconnaissance photographs taken 3rd July 2018. Located to the west of the villa site, it is unclear from the available photographs if these features are connected with the villa site. (11)
