More information : Lamyatt shrunken village ST 652358. Earthworks to the SW of the village, of house platforms, crofts, holloways and boundary banks suggest that the village was once larger and on a different alignment from the present one. ST 652359. Deserted Medieval site, west of Lower Batch Farm, with well preserved earthworks in a field now used for permanent pasture. Two hollow ways, one running east to west, the other north to south, and well preserved rectangular house platforms are visible. Scheduled. ST 6536: A series of earthworks west of Lamyatt were surveyed by Bristol University. Fifteen house platforms front a possible Ro road (RRX 37). The earthworks are undated but may be early medieval since a C9 charter implies that the road was disused by this time. The earthworks appear to be a medieval village with clearly defined tofts, crofts, and boundary banks. (See Illustration Card for plan) (3) Additional reference. (4)
