More information : In the 16th century there were two water-mills and a fulling-mill appurtenant to the manor of Egglestone (Egglestone Abbey NZ 0615). (1)
The site of the mill lay just outside the limits of English Heritage's archaeological investigation of the fields around Egglestone Abbey, undertaken during November 2000. However, it is briefly mentioned in the Survey Report - 'The Medieval and Later Landscape at Egglestone Abbey, Teesdale, County Durham' - which contains the results of this investigation. (2) |
