The Hospital of St. Mary Magdalen at Curry Rivel by Langport was founded circa 1280 A.D. Originally for lepers, this became an almshouse probably before c. 1403, though it continued to be called the leper house. In 1548-9 there were four poor people here. (2)
A short time prior to 1860 in pulling down an old house belonging to the Corporation on the north side of the street leading to the river, remains of an ecclesiastical building in the style of the 14th century were found, and thought to be the leper hospital. Finds are in Taunton Museum. (3)
No traces of any building or enclosure can be seen on the site indicated. The Tithe Map describes two fields bordering the road as "Almshouse Plot" in one of which the published siting falls and this seems conjectural.
Munckton's house may have been at ST 41022649, the only building shown on the Tithe Map to the north of the road. (4)
