More information : A priory cell of Augustinian Canons, was originally founded as a hermitage, c. 1199, at Burtle, Burcle or Sprawksmede (sited to Burtle Farm by H.S.L. Dewar (2)). It became a priory cell of Glastonbury Abbey, c 1267-75, and was dissolved 1536. It was dedicated to the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Stephen. (1-3)
There are no significant field names or any visible evidence to indicate the site of a cell at Burtle Farm. (4)
