Summary : A Roman tombstone was found at Trinity Terrace, Corbridge
More information : A Roman tombstone, 44" x 24" x 6" thick, showing signs of
calcination and completely shattered, bearing, under a pediment, in
which a fir-core-like object appears, the inscription:-
D.M./IVL PR////SVE /CO//VGIC/PC

It was found in digging house foundations at Trinity Terrace,
Corbridge, a little east of the site of Corstopitum. Near it were
two large runnel stones apparently on the site of a conduit used for
bringing water from the direction of Prior Mains to the Roman
station. (1)

The stone is in the Blackgate Museum. Donated May 29 1895 by T.H.
Robinson, Corbridge (Accession Book) (2)

Mr. W.P. Hedley Hon Corr., Corbridge could furnish no further
details. Trinity Terrace is centred at NY 9873 6477. (3)
