Summary : A Roman inscribed stone was found built into one of the outhouses at the Hermitage, near Hexham. It is now lost.
More information : A Roman inscibed stone was found built up in one of the
outhouses at the Hermitage, near Hexham. It may have been brought
from the Wall in that vicinity but is now lost. The inscription
reads:-
VICTORIAE
AVG
L.IVL.IVLL
IVC ...... (1-2)

Local enquiries and a perambulation of the present buildings of the
Hermitage revealed no trace of this inscribed stone.
Sited to the range of outbuildings lying to the west of the main
residence - NY 93565. (3)
