Monument Number 18309

Hob Uid: 18309
Location :
Northumberland
Warden
Grid Ref : NY9036067880
Summary : Possible site of a Roman signal station; air photos indicate a possible site where a small, sub-rectangular site overlies the N.W. quadrant of the hill-fort (NY 96 W 17). There are, however, no surface traces at this, or any other, position on the hill.
More information : A signal-tower would be needed on, or close to, the north end of Warden Hill [NY 904677] to ensure communications westward to Newbrough. (1)

Air photos (a) indicate a possible site at NY 90366788 where a small, sub-rectangular site overlies the N.W. quadrant of the hill-fort. There are, however, no surface traces at this, or any other, position on the hill. (2)
