Summary : The site of Roman turret 26A, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. The turret was located in 1930 196 feet west of the first fence east of Brunton Cottages, only the foundation of the south wall was found. There are no tangible remains of the turret.

(NY 9263 6968) This was located in 1930, 196 ft. west of the first fence east of Brunton Cottages, and confirmed by partial excavation in 1959. Its internal dimensions are c. 12' 6" N-S and 11' 9" to 12'. E-W. No evidence was found to indicate that there had ever been occupation in the third or fourth centuries. (2)

The site falls in a plantation, and is only identifiable by spoil heaps and scattered rubble at the position excavated. There are no surface remains of this turret. (3)

The turret was located in 1930 196 feet W of the first fence E of Brunton Cottages, only the foundation of the S wall was found (4a). NY 9263 6968. There are no tangible remains of the turret. (4)
