BOWES MOOR ROMAN TEMPORARY CAMP

The earthwork remains of Bowes Moor Roman temporary camp believed to be contemporary with the signal station 8 metres to the south. The temporary camp is visible as a square enclosure with rounded corners 56 metres across. Pottery recovered from excavations prior to the road widening suggest a construction date of 340-350 AD.
