Summary : Farmhouse at Brig Farm, incorporating a bastle of late 16th/early 17th century date in its east wing. A number of new entrances have been added to the bastle and much of its upper floor has been rebuit, probably in the 18th century. It has been used as a byre, store, barn and stable. |
More information : NY 892897 In the farmyard at Brig is a two-storey building, now used as a barn, 23 x 33 feet over walls 3 1/2 feet thick. The ground floor has been much altered with the forming of new openings. A doorway in the upper floor in the middle of the South front is blocked. (See Type-site NY 88 SE 14) (1)
NY 89128971 As described but not outstanding. The building forms the east range of the modern farmhouse and is used as stables. Much of the masonry of the upper floor is modern and there is a modern external access stair to the upper floor on the north side. See illustration. (2)
