More information : [NY 88878773] Tumulus [OE] (1) A grass covered mound 9.0m diameter and 0.6m high. No trace of ditch or retaining circle. The adjacent ridge and furrow ploughing swings to avoid the mound. Situated on a slight eastern slope about 650 feet above OD.with an extensive view to the east, it may well be a tumulus. NY 8887 8772. Round cairn 580m N of Woodhouse. Scheduled RSM No 21037. The earth and stone cairn measures 9m in diameter and up to 0.6m high. A slight hollow in the top of the cairn is the result of an unrecorded partial excavation. A Roman milestone (NY 88 NE 8) 2m high erected on the edge of the cairn is included in the scheduling. (4)
