Summary : The earthwork remains Roman Milecastle 31, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. The north wall of the Milecastle lies beneath the modern road; the majority survives as a turf-covered platform, 0.25 metres high on the west side accentuated by the adjoining car park wall. Traces of a road causeway, 0.15 metres high, survive leading towards the Vallum north mound. |
